The Importance of Church Patronage in Italy

Church Patronage in Italy, a religious art that influence church in Italy. In Florence, Italy, early patronage was associated with the church. It was the result of influence political in central Italy.

What is Patronage?

Patronage has many meanings. Some people says patronage is a wealthy person who pays an artist to paint or someone to write and play music and make statues or any other type of art. On the other hand, there’s some people says that patronage is a social institution throughout early modern Europe, probably peeking in importance between the 14th and 17th centuries.

In this case, I take the meaning of patronage as social institution in the early modern Europe. Because its ‘Church Patronage in Italy’ so I take the meaning as church institution in Italy.

Why is it important? What is the importance?

That statue is the example of Church Patronage in Italy. It is Michaelangelo’s Pieta. One of the Church Patronage in Italy. It is the statue of Mother Mary holding her son, Jesus Christ. Mother Mary and Jesus Christ is the main patron of Church.

So, what is the relation between art and church? Is it influenced each others?

The answer is YES. Why? Because, in every Church there are so many statue of Saint. The purpose of statue of Saint in Church as a media for us to pray to the Saint, so does the statue of God, it is for our media to pray to God.

In conclusion, the importance of patronage church in Italy is to patron the church, and the statue is as the media to pray. It happens not only in Italy, it also happens everywhere all over the world. But, it started in Italy, the central is in Italy. Because Italy is the central of Catholic people, many Catholic people live in Italy.
