Beautiful and Tasteful, what is the difference?
What is Beautiful?
For me, beautiful is something that comes up from everything that we see. We sometimes say “that woman is very beautiful” when we see her. Or we often say “this statue and this painting is really beautiful and aesthetics”. We say that words sometimes when we see someone or something, so from that we can conclude that beautiful comes up in our mind when we look at something.
Some people say that beautiful is relative. Someone can says “it is beautiful” and “it is not” for 1 object. Because beautiful is comes from someone perspective and point of view. So, if someone says something beautiful, it means it is beautiful from their perspective, and maybe someone else will say it not.
Wikipedia says, Beauty is a characteristic of a person, animal, place, object, or idea that provides a perceptual experience of pleasure or satisfaction. Beauty is studied as part of aesthetics, sociology, social psychology, and culture. An “ideal beauty” is an entity which is admired, or possesses features widely attributed to beauty in a particular culture, for perfection.
For the examples:
For me, these paintings are really beautiful, we can see from the aesthetics. I love it!
But, maybe for some people these paintings are not really beautiful.
So, from that we can conclude that beautiful comes up from everything what we see and comes up from our point of view.
What is Tasteful?
I think Tasteful is something that we can feel. For the examples, we can say “this food is very tasteful, it’s delicious” or “this smell is really tasteful, it’s smell of perfume”. The difference between beautiful and tasteful is beautiful comes from our eyes, but tasteful comes from our feeling. And someone point of view about beautiful is different with others point of view, but for tasteful it can be same, because it’s not about point of view, but it is about feeling.
